Have you heard the news…
Are you hearing the whispers on streetwalker’s tongues?
Do you have the good fortune of being in on the scuttlebutt?
I sure hope you’ve had your ears perked up these past few weeks. There’s some serious rumors flying and they’re both sexual and crude: I’m launching a podcast. It’s called Babbling On, and if you’re no idiot you may have been able to deduce that yourself.
The podcast will be a sister project of the newsletter, and the two shall be incestuous twins, who kiss and create art together. Isn’t that simply fabulous?
It’s been several months of planning and recording to prepare for this moment. We have seven episodes already in the bank and they’re all so different and so special to me. I’ve enlisted the help of all my friends, and am eternally in their debt: to Alec (yesterday was his birthday, I love him so much, he’s the greatest friend in the world and his episode of this podcast is out now, more on him soon!), who encouraged me to do this in the first place, to Natalie and Molly for helping me order the equipment and urging me to get the ball rolling, to everyone else who has already lent their voices as guests, to everyone who has believed in me, to all of you who have subscribed to this newsletter.
And to Benny Cotilletta. He wrote, recorded, and co-produced the absolutely mind-blowing theme song. Genius Jack Kraus worked on the production too, and Callie Baker lent her beautiful vocals. Listening to the song brings tears to my eyes and Brailles my skin with goosebumps. I’m so, so proud and in awe of Benny — he’s been working on music privately since I’ve known him and to see him conceptualize an entire song from scratch, and do it with Babbling On’s voice in mind, and to see his talents coalesce into something so ROCKING, that he trusted me enough with to release to the public, has been an absolute joy and immense honor. I can’t wait to continue collaborating with him in the future.
I’m so grateful and so excited to begin this new creative project! Don’t worry, the Substack is not going anywhere - far from it, in fact, so put that knife away.
There’s a teaser up on Spotify and Apple Music as we speak (new episodes will always be coming out Tuesdays because that’s the day of the week with the most to gain at the moment), and the first official episode is actually low key also live, so go subscribe or follow or whatever the fuck. It’s going to be fabulous. Good day to you. Official Substack about the first episode will drop later this week.
Also! I performed at Hunter Harris’ Hung Up event the other evening and talked about how hot it was when it seemed like Ricky Martin and his nephew might have been boyfriends for a second. Alas, the story has a tragic end, and it turned out the mentally ill nephew made the whole thing up. But my outfit was crunted, so yeah. Good night!
